Waddler Room News

Dear Waddler Parents,
This week in the classroom the children experimented with light and shadows in the science center, created beautiful keepsakes for their mommies to take home
on Friday, shopped at Shalom Market for the last time in dramatic play, and had fun turning our sensory table into an aquatic exploration!
It was perfect weather to be in our outdoor environment, naturally, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to enjoy some activities outside. We started taking field trips to the big shul this week to sing some songs as we prepare for the upcoming end of the year ceremony. We are so excited to see all the moms
Friday morning and wishing all good shabbas.
Thank you,
Morah Felicia and Morah Ora

Toddler Room News

Dear Parents,

We had a wonderful week exploring mitzvahs, learning about Shavuos, and working very hard to create beautiful gifts for our Mommies!

The children used their artistic, writing, and verbal skills to make presents for Muffins and Moms today!

In the math center, there were flower clips to count. This challenged their counting skills and their fine motor abilities. It was a challenging center, but they really worked hard to get it right! Oree tried for a long time to clip every flower onto its card. Imie decided to simply place each flower on its card. They had a long discussion about their choices together.

In the science center, we had corn flour and flowers off of the trees in our outdoor area to explore. Bayla enjoyed hiding the flower petals. Eliya really liked scooping the flour into glass jars.

In the writing center, we had a bouquet of flowers for the children to draw. Avigail tried very hard to create a flower drawing! We also created cards in the writing center this week. Noah loved his purple crayon. Leah made beautiful drawing specifically for her mommy.

We also had several different puzzles to work on in the block center this week. Rafi was able to complete the hands puzzle all by himself! Dovid enjoyed building with the Legos with his friends.

Next week we will explore more about Shavuos.

Thanks for another great week!

Pre K Room News

Dear Parents,

We have had such a nice week learning more about Shavous.

We started off our week by working with triangles, using various triangular objects from the room to trace. We also tried drawing triangles on our own without tracing. Bayla started to draw flowers on her triangles which made us think of Har Sinai. 'Mountains are like a triangle!' Is what Dovid said as he cut his out.

Rivkah had the wonderful idea of using our triangles to build an even bigger triangle which we all did together by gluing them in designs on poster board.

In our math center, the children sorted flowers by the number of petals. We separated them by 'less than 5' and 'more than 5'. We also had a sand timer in the math area. Raphael was especially fascinated with it, watching all the sand fall down and saying 'its been 10 minutes now!'

We had a fun flower shop set up in the loft area this week. The children all decided they wanted to make their own shop signs and helped decorate. It was so great to watch the children decide how much money the flowers should be sold for, and even listening to them barter! We 'sold' flowers that the children helped pick from outside.

Our class had beautiful tulips for us to enjoy. Raphael and Avigayil both liked smelling the tulips, and Max touched the leaf and said it felt sticky like wax!

By popular demand our sensory table was still filled with soil and seeds this week. We also added in some leaf trimmings from the tulips and classroom plants. The children all really love playing with the soil, staying focused on it for long period of time and working together to create different things. Dovid enjoyed filling up the bottles in the table with soil and then pouring it all out in a big pile!

For a fun art project we made 'torah scrolls'. Using a feather, like a quill, we tried to write Hebrew letters on a piece of paper like a Sofer writes a Torah. Once dry we worked on rolling up the paper into scrolls.

We enjoyed learning about Shmita and the importance of listening to, Hashem and trusting Him, in connection to this weeks Parsha. The children were so excited that it was a double Parsha again! We also discussed how Parshas Bechukosai is the last Parsha of Chumash Vayikra and next week we will be starting a new book of the Torah!

Thank you to all the moms who came for Muffins & Moms. The kids worked so hard on their dance and were so excited to show you all. See you next week!

Weekly Parshah

Parshat Behar-Bechukotai

On the mountain of Sinai, G‑d communicates to Moses the laws of the Sabbatical year: every seventh year, all work on the land should cease, and its produce becomes free for the taking for all, man and beast.

Seven Sabbatical cycles are followed by a fiftieth year—the Jubilee year, on which work on the land ceases, all indentured servants are set free, and all ancestral estates in the Holy Land that have been sold revert to their original owners. Additional laws governing the sale of lands, and the prohibitions against fraud and usury, are also given.

G‑d promises that if the people of Israel will keep His commandments, they will enjoy material prosperity and dwell secure in their homeland. But He also delivers a harsh “rebuke,” warning of the exile, persecution and other evils that will befall them if they abandon their covenant with Him. Nevertheless, “Even when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away; nor will I ever abhor them, to destroy them and to break My covenant with them; for I am the L‑rd their G‑d.”

The Parshah concludes with the rules on how to calculate the values of different types of pledges made to G‑d.
